Laughter is the medicine... is it?

A form of outward expression of amusement, mirth and at times, other emotions. It may ensue (as a physiologicall reaction) from jokess, tickling and others. Inhaling nitrous oxide can also induce it; other drugs, such as cannabis, can also induce episodes of strong reactions. it can sometimes bring an onset of tears or even moderate muscular pain as a physical response to the act. what nonsense am i talking about here u ask? simple...

its the definition of LAUGHTER..

its a very intruiging thing this laughter..

do you know even animals laugh? dogs, chimps and even rats laugh..
humans are even more interesting.. some babies have been known to laugh from as young as 17 days old!! imagine a new-born lying in a bed and suddenly laughing!! its kinda creepy actually but very intriguing! every human can laugh whether they are blind, deaf or mute.. i never really thought about that before..

since we can all laugh... y is it that there are so many who dont seem to laugh then? or rather.. why do people laugh in the first place? because they are happy would have been a normal answer.. but apparently it might not be that true..

according to aristotle, we laugh because we feel joy at being superior to ugly or inferior people.. that's a really ugly side to laughter that i have never known before..
socrates is said to have believed that people laughing is a display of self-ignorance.. again something that has never once crossed my puny mind before..

what is real and not real about laughter then?
do i laugh or do i not?
am i being obnoxious by laughing since it just might be saying that i am ignorant of others as well?
or am i robbing people of the joy of laughing since it has been known to be contagious?

now we know why so-called comedy shows have the canned laughter to accompany.. its easier for people to laught when there are others laughing with them.. we may not find something funny at first but if someone else is laughing we sometimes do join in for some reason unknown to us..

so here's my question to u..
do i or do i not laugh?

never thought simple laughter would bring along such mind-bogging facts along with it huh..
